Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible duct sealing and repair components across West Palm Beach, with most sealed-system repairs running between $280 and $620 installed depending on access and how much of the duct run needs attention. Most Rotobrush owners discover the problem the same way: a sealing gasket gives out on a section of supply duct, the air handler starts working harder, and rooms at the end of the run never quite cool down like they used to. In South Florida humidity, failed duct seals also pull attic air into the system, which means mold spores, insulation dust, and all that warm damp air you don’t want circulating through the house.

Before you spend another $80 on a service call that doesn’t fix the root issue, here’s what actually goes wrong with Rotobrush duct sealing, what it costs to correct in West Palm Beach, and how to know whether you can handle the inspection yourself or should have a tech out.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

The Rotobrush part category we’re talking about covers the sealing collars, gaskets, and repair sleeves used on the company’s duct cleaning and sealing system components, most commonly the aiR+ and the BrushBeast. If you’re running a Rotobrush system with the HEPA-filtered negative air machine, the sealing points between the vacuum hose, the access collar, and the machine intake are your failure points. They take a beating from repeated connect and disconnect cycles, and after enough Florida attic heat, the rubber and foam gaskets harden and crack.

How to identify what you need: Look at the collar plate where the vacuum hose meets your machine. Rotobrush stamps a part number on the collar face for most series, usually beginning with “RB-” followed by four digits. If that stamp is worn off, measure the inside diameter of the hose coupling. Most West Palm Beach machines we service run 8-inch or 10-inch vacuum hose, but we’ve seen older rotobrush systems with 6-inch hoses still in use. Ordering the wrong diameter gasket is the single most common mistake we see from owners trying to self-source parts, and the second-most common is ordering a generic vacuum gasket that can’t hold up to the negative pressure the Rotobrush pulls.

One thing to know: we’re an independent repair and service provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush directly. In our experience, OEM Rotobrush seals last longer than the no-name aftermarket equivalents, mostly because the OEM rubber compound is formulated for continuous negative-pressure use rather than occasional shop vacuum duty. We carry OEM where available and only stock aftermarket parts when the OEM option is backordered or discontinued.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing

  • Reduced suction at the hose end. If the vacuum pull at the tool end feels noticeably weaker than it did when the machine was new, you’ve likely got a leak at one of the sealing points between the machine and the hose. Small air leaks add up fast and kill the negative pressure the system depends on.
  • Whistling or hissing around the collar. A high-pitched whistle at any connection point means air is being pulled in past a gasket. That air bypasses the filter stack and dumps whatever it’s carrying straight into the blower side of the system.
  • Visible cracking or flattening on the gasket face. Pull the hose off and run a finger around the gasket. If it’s hard, flattened, or you can see hairline cracks in the rubber, it’s done. Florida attic heat accelerates this, and we see it on machines in West Palm Beach that are only three or four years old.
  • Debris buildup at the connection point. When a seal fails, the area around the collar starts collecting whatever the system is pulling. If you’re seeing dust caked around the outside of the connection that won’t wipe off, the seal is no longer seating properly.
  • Longer cleaning times for the same job. A machine with leaky seals is running at reduced efficiency. If a duct cleaning that used to take an hour now takes an hour and a half, the problem is rarely your technique; it’s usually a pressure loss somewhere in the system.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we charge in West Palm Beach for Rotobrush sealing and repair work, based on what we’re actually seeing on service calls:

  • Collar gasket replacement (single connection point): $45 to $90 parts, $60 to $110 labor. Total: $105 to $200.
  • Full sealing kit (all connection points on the vacuum side): $120 to $200 parts, $100 to $180 labor. Total: $220 to $380.
  • Repair sleeve for cracked or separated duct collar: $40 to $75 parts, $80 to $140 labor. Total: $120 to $215.
  • Complete vacuum-side rebuild (hose, collar, gaskets, clamps): $260 to $450 parts depending on hose length, $120 to $200 labor. Total: $380 to $650.

Every quote includes the part cost, the labor to install it, and a written price before we start. No per-incidental add-ons. No surprise line item at the end. You’ll also get our written guarantee on every repair, and if the covered repair fails, we come back at no charge.

One note on the range: attic access in older West Palm Beach neighborhoods, like the 1950s and 60s construction in Flamingo Park, can be tight and hot, and that adds labor time. We’ll tell you that upfront when we give you the written price.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do yourself: pull the hose connection, inspect the gasket for visible cracks or flattening, and check the collar for any separation. That inspection costs nothing and tells you a lot about what’s going on. If the gasket looks obviously compromised, take a photo and call us; we can often identify the part you need before we even come out.

Where DIY goes wrong on Rotobrush sealing: the temptation is to wrap the connection in duct tape and call it fixed. It doesn’t hold up under negative pressure and it’ll pull away, and now you’ve got adhesive residue gumming up the sealing surface for the next repair. We’ve also seen owners over-tighten hose clamps to compensate for a bad gasket, which cracks the plastic collar and turns an $80 repair into a $250 one.

If you can do the inspection and the problem is clearly a deteriorated gasket, a swap is a straightforward job. If there’s any question about split collars, pressure loss somewhere in the middle of the hose, or you don’t want to spend an afternoon in a hot attic, call us at (728) 231-8154 and we’ll get it sorted.
